If you’ve been trying to lose weight but feel like you’re stuck despite eating less, no matter how much you exercise, or what diet you try it might be time to explore your metabolic rate.

What is your metabolic rate?

This is the amount of calories you burn in a day. Your base metabolic rate (BMR or REE for resting energy expenditure) accounts for 2/3 or more of your daily needs and is the calories needed just to keep you alive, breathing and stable without breaking into your muscle or fat stores. And this rate is affected by hormones, what and how. much you eat. So eating less may be doing more harm than good depending how you go about it.Your total metabolic rate (TEE for total energy expenditure) is both the amount needed to sustain your basic body functions + exercise/movement.

I’ve got 4 ways to increase your metabolic rate naturally so you can lose weight AND keep it off long term without eating teeny tiny amounts of food or being hungry all the time. Life is too short to survive on 1000 calories a day or miss out on all the fun foods and wine. A healthy balance of enjoyment and fat loss that you can sustain is totally possible with the right approach.

I’d love to hear your thoughts – do you think you might struggle with a low metabolic rate? Or more with over-eating and portion control? Email me here. It is SO helpful and I’d love to chat.
