Meet Sasha Myers!
Early on in my Personal Training career, I knew I wanted to train myself and others to have a body that they could say “yes” to adventures with at every age. But honestly, I didn’t think much about menopause back then. I understood how aging affects the body and what we can do to slow it down, but I really didn’t know much about the changes women go through during menopause and how that might impact my ability to stay adventurous.
Fast forward to February 2023. I thought I was doing everything “right,” but then my annual bloodwork came back with flagged cholesterol. I know heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in women and this could be tied to perimenopause. I speed-dialled (yes, I love talking on the phone) our favourite Registered Dietitian. With her help over the next year and a half, I was able to lower my cholesterol back into a healthy range through some changes in my nutrition and lifestyle.
So many women don’t have healthcare pros as friends and are just as in the dark about menopause as I was. But unlike me, it’s not their job to read up on it or attend conferences, and they don’t have the time to dig into all that info—that’s just not fair and is why I said yes to creating this program with Michelle. The women in our lives deserve to enjoy life to the fullest.
Sasha’s 20-plus-year journey in the health and fitness industry began at fifteen when she signed up for the local YMCA’s Fitness Certification Courses and became a certified Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and Lifeguard. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 2006 with a BSc in Kinesiology. After moving to the West Coast in 2007, her definition of fitness transformed as she started experiencing life through her fitness. She also realized her passion in the industry is to help people use their bodies to explore all the adventures life has to offer, both locally and abroad.
Sasha has combined her love of training and travel by completing numerous events from around the globe and aims to help others do the same – saying “yes” to all their own adventures regardless of age.
Meet Michelle Shepherd!
I have helped 100’s of women just like you find their healthiest weight, heal their gut and build a happy and positive relationship with food and body.
My background as a Registered Dietitian has given me the expertise in human nutrition and physiology to use modern research and my 15 years of experience coaching as a guide on what really works, and what is just hype. As someone who has struggled with food and body myself, I understand that knowing and doing are very different and how to build real behaviour and mindset changes so the results stick with you for years instead of months, like that trending hormone diet everyone is talking about in the office.
Helping women feel good in their skin, without giving up on the foods that bring them joy, is a passion in part because I’ve experienced the complete lack of support from healthcare pros, how frustrating body changes can be and because I truly believe that this is the stage we need to be life-proofing our bodies so we can be biking around Italy in our retirement instead of stuck in doctor’s offices every week. Ready to join me on feeling healthy and energized for allllll of life’s adventures?
